The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation of Australia
At Empowered Learning, we are focused on improving educational outcomes and believe in the importance of promoting learning in communities and empowering individuals in reaching their full potential. This is why we are a proud sponsor of the ALNF and ensure that for every Promethean ActivBoard you purchase, proceeds go to support this worthy cause.

The Foundation is an independent tax-deductible charity (DGR), dedicated to raising language, literacy and numeracy standards in Australia. Raised funds facilitate projects, professional assistance and direct assistance to individuals and their families. As a National charity, the Foundation is a vehicle through which members of the community and organisations can join together to help break the cycle of poor literacy.

At Empowered Learning we are proud to be able to give back to the community and support great organisation like Life Education Australia.
Life Education is the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of preventative drug education in schools. The Life Education program is used extensively to complement schools’ drug and health education programs.
Life Education's primary schools programs which commenced in 1979 are delivered by 120 full-time and part-time educators using Life Education's national network of more than 90 mobile and static classrooms, complemented by direct delivery in school classrooms. Over 750,000 students participate in the program each year.
Life Education aims, in partnership with schools and the community, to help reduce tobacco use and illegal drug use among young people; encourage them to avoid or delay alcohol use; and reduce the harms associated with any drug use.
Life Education's programs are based on the latest research, and provide high quality drug education featuring role-play; social skills training; correction of common myths; and varied, fast-moving and interactive activities facilitated by excellent educators assisted by the latest multi-media technology.
Life Education is built on the philosophy that prevention is better than cure. Life Education encourages respect for the uniqueness of each individual. At the heart of everything Life Education does, is the fundamental belief that every child is ‘unique’.
Life Education aims to assist schools with their drug and health education programs by working in partnership with state education departments, pre-school, primary and secondary school professionals and the general community.
To achieve this aim, Life Education:
-
enhances schools’ existing drug and health education programs by conducting student sessions and providing pre and post visit activities all of which use best practice in drug education
-
links to educational outcomes of key learning areas common to all state education curriculum documents
-
offers choices, within a modular design, at both the topic and educational outcome levels to meet individual school needs
-
professionally develops teachers through modelling in student sessions, giving exposure to other health and drug education resources and offering workshops/presentations
-
streamlines links to other health promoting community groups such state ambulance, road safety and police organisations
-
promotes school connectedness for both students and their families by facilitating school-based family forums where health and drug-related issues can be discussed in an open and supportive environment.
